Medium-sized Evergreen trees; trunk 5-13 m tall; branclets glabrous; buds 1 cm long, 0.6 cm broad, scales imbricate, grayish-tomentose beneath except margins.
Leaves alternate, broadly oblanceolate to lanceolate, thinly coriaceous, 11-20 cm long, 2-3.6 cm broad, acuminate to caudate at apex, obtuse to acute at base, glabrous, deep green, lustrous above, glaucous beneath, midrib somewhat pubescent and reddish-brown beneath when dry, lateral veins 10-13 pairs, slightly distinct above, somewhat pubescent and elevated beneath, veinlets distinctly reticulate beneath, parallel veinlets often present at base of blade; petioles 1.2-3 cm long, glabrous.
Inflorescences umbellate, 4-16-flowered; axillary, brown-tomentose, pedunculate, ca. 1-2.5 cm long; involucral bracts 4-5, 5 mm long; pedicels 2 mm long, pubescent; tepals 6, oblong, 2-2.5 mm long, obtuse at apex, hairy outside, light yellowish-green; staminate flowers with fertile stamens 9, 4 mm long, filaments filiform, villous, 3rd whorl with 2 sessile glands, anthers oblong, 4-celled, introrse; pistillate flowers with 9 staminodes, 3rd whorl of staminodes with 2 glands.
Fruit ellipsoid, 1.5 cm long, glabrous, black.
